More info about the Build Strategy

Leander has been designed to be built in a single shipyard using modular construction techniques or it can be built in numerous fabrication shipyards and centrally assembled. All long-lead and lockout items are fully considered in the Leander build strategy which is based on logical block sequencing. These blocks have natural structural integrity making handling easier, cheaper and less complex.

The combat system has also been properly integrated into the build strategy with care taken to ensure systems are ‘procured as late as possible to avoid hardware obsolescence’,  ‘care protected’, ‘tested as a system’ and deliver military capability out from build.

Build Strategy Continued Further

The architectures of all key ship systems have been produced with the build strategy in mind. Procurement packages and close supplier engagement will allow an integrated approach to be taken to the warship construction. This collaborative and integrated approach is vital to ensure a constant focus on schedule, cost and quality. This builds on the proven commercial shipbuilding practices of Cammell Laird.
